Newlands Cricket Stadium

Newlands Cricket Ground must rank among the world's most beautiful arenas. Not so much for the stadium itself, but for its setting below Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It became the home of Western Province cricket in 1887 after a committee decided it was the best site for a cricket pitch in that area.

The stadium has undergone renovations in recent years bringing its capacity to around 25000.

The ground is well situated in the southern suburbs and can be reached within 20 minutes of the city centre.

Why go to Newlands Cricket Ground:

Newlands Cricket Ground plays host to both domestic provincial matches and international test matches. There is usually a friendly, festive atmosphere for big games and the setting makes it a relaxing way to spend a day.

Ticket prices will depend on where you sit in the stadium and the importance of the match.

The most scenic views of the stadium may come from the grass banked areas of the stadium. That said, when temperatures rise you may prefer a seat in an area with a bit more shade.
